EUGENE, Ore. (KOIN) — Eugene Police are investigating two separate but similar robberies that occurred near the University of Oregon campus Saturday morning.
In the first case, a man said he was walking near 20th Avenue and Patterson Street about 4:45 when a man pointed a gun at him and demanded his cell phone.
The second case happened just after 5:00 near the Delta Delta Delta sorority on E. 15th Avenue. The woman told police she was robbed of her cell phone by a man with a gun.
In each case the suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, about 5′ 10″ tall, clean shaven wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and a black, puffy vest.
Officers searched both areas and couldn’t find the suspect.
Eugene Police are considering the fact these robberies could be connected to recent, similar crimes in North Portland where three people were robbed of their cell phones. The suspect and MO is similar in all the incidents.
