PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Two teens, an 18 year old and a 15 year old, have been indicted by a grand jury for a robbery that happened the day before Thanksgiving in downtown.

Joevan Laroy Patterson and Hassan Omar each face 8 counts of second-degree robbery and one count of first-degree theft.

According to a probable cause affidavit, four young men were riding their bikes in Waterfront Park in downtown Portland on Nov. 25 when they were approached by a group of five other young men who they didn’t know. The group threatened them and demanded their bikes and other personal property.

One of the young men in the group of robbers reportedly said “shoot, shoot,” according to court documents.

When Omar was arrested, he was found riding one of the bikes that the victims described had been stolen, according to police. Officers learned that the group had a fake gun and that it was pulled out during the robbery.

Both teens are scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment on Friday.

Patterson, the 15-year-old, is being charged as an adult under Oregon’s Ballot Measure 11 statue. A booking photo was not immediately available.
