Gunfire erupts when Portland nightclubs close

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Police are seeking witnesses to an early morning shooting that happened right as several bars and nightclubs were preparing to close.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says the shooting was reported on Sunday around 2 a.m. near SW 2nd and Ankeny. Officers got on scene and found evidence of gunfire.

“Several area bars and nightclubs were busy with patrons and none reported any injuries,” Simpson says.

Police learned that several vehicles were seen leaving the area but it’s not clear if those people were witnesses, intended victims or suspects.
