PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 28-year-old psychiatric patient who escaped from the Oregon State Hospital on Thursday was found Friday in Philomath.
Oregon Health Authority officials say Jeffrey Appelt, who is considered to be dangerous, was spotted as a passenger in a car during a traffic stop. He was arrested for unauthorized departure.
He was admitted to Oregon State Hospital on Oct. 3 as a civil commitment from Linn County. Appelt was transferred to the hospital from the Oregon Department of Corrections after being convicted of felony possession of a firearm and other firearms-related crimes.
