HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN) — A Washington County K9 helped subdue and contain a 33-year-old man who allegedly fled from police after threatening his ex-girlfriend.
Daniel J. Lozano of Forest Grove was taken into custody Saturday night after a chase through rural Washington County that included sheriff’s deputies and police from Forest Grove, Hillsboro and North Plains.
A woman flagged down a deputy around 7:45 p.m. and said her ex-boyfriend damaged her car and threatened her. As they were talking, Lozano allegedly drove by and the pursuit began.
Deputies tried a maneuver to stop him, but Lozano drove through a field and back onto NW Scotch Church Road near Jackson School Road. A second attempt to stop him worked, but he refused to get out of the car.
Enter the K9, who bit Lozano and got him out of the car. Lozano was taken to the hospital, treated, released and arrested, police said.
He remains in Washington County on multiple charges: trying to elude a police officer, reckless endangering, resisting arrest, menacing domestic violence, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and reckless driving. More charges are possible.
