PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A gang fight in Portland’s Entertainment District ended with one man in jail after allegedly flashing a gun, running from and then struggling the police.
Around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, as many as 12 gang members got into a fight at NW 3rd between Couch and Burnside, Portland police said. During the fight a man — later identified as Darius Pierre Tarver — showed a gun “in full view of the officers,” police said in a statement.
Tarver took off running and allegedly tossed the gun in a parking lot at NW 4th and Couch. When officers caught up with him, he struggled but was taken into custody.
The 25-year-old faces charges of unlawful possession of a gun, possession of a loaded gun and 3rd-degree escape.
A few hours later
Shortly before 4 a.m. a series of shootings took place in Portland, and police are trying to determine if any or all of them are gang-related and related to each other.
— A car was shot and caught on fire in the 15900 block of East Burnside.
— Gunfire was reported around SE 154th and Alder
— Gunfire was reported around SE 148th and Clinton
— Gunfire was reported around SE 141st and Division
— At 6:25 a.m., a man was shot at as he got out of his car at 115th and Powell Court.
No one was injured in any of these shootings, and the investigation into all of them continues.
