FLORENCE, Ore. (KOIN) — A 92-year-old man was killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash along Highway 101 north of Florence, police said.
The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. near milepost 174, Oregon State Police said.
Investigators said Eugene Weigant was driving a 2008 Honda CRV northbound when it crossed the center line and hit 23-year-old Tanner Dickinson’s 1994 Chevrolet.
Both cars were heavily damaged in the crash.
An ambulance took Weigant to Peace Harbor Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. Dickinson was treated and released with minor injuries.
One lane of Highway 101 was closed for several hours for an investigation.
Police have not revealed what may have caused the crash.
