Farmington Road: ‘Somebody’s gonna get hurt’

ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) — A stretch of road in Aloha is worrying neighbors. They say Farmington Road just west of 185th is an accident waiting to happen — too dangerous and too dark.

“It’s quite frightening. Somebody’s gonna get hurt,” says Michael Pratt, who lives near Farmington Road.

The street looks innocent enough during the day, but Pratt says it is a whole different beast at night.

“With the car lights hitting you in the eyes, drivers and pedestrians, you can’t see.”

Pratt would like to see lighting, crosswalks and better markings along the stretch of road, but the Oregon Department of Transportation says Farmington, also known as Highway 10, isn’t high on their priority list.

“We’re certainly aware that there are some issues along in there,” says ODOT spokesperson Don Hamilton. He says the agency has limited funding right now. “If people are having some issues, we’ll go on out there, we’ll take a look at this and see where it fits in and we’ll see what kind of resources we have available.”

Hamilton encourages people who have concerns to share them with ODOT.
