VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A 72-year-old man suffered minor injuries after a teenager allegedly burst into his Vancouver home, assaulted him and locked him out Wednesday evening.

When police were called to the 10600 block of SE Burlington around 5:30 p.m., the suspect — later identified as Irving Diaz Rodriguez — was inside the house with family members of the victim, David Weisen.

Eventually, police made their way inside the house and took Rodriguez into custody after a brief struggle. He was treated at the scene and taken to Clark County Jail.

No one else was hurt.

The call to the Burlington Street address came shortly after police were called to the 11000 block of SE Evergreen on reports of a suspicious person who tried to get into a home in that area. The description matched Rodriguez, police said.

The 18-year-old faces felony 1st-degree burglary charges. More charges are pending.

He is being held on $50,000 bail and will be arraigned February 18.
