ALOHA, Ore. (KOIN) — A van ended up completely inside an auto parts store in Washington County Thursday after a driver had a medical emergency.
The crash happened at SW 185th and Farmington Road just after noon.
According to witnesses and deputies, the elderly driver was in the drive-thru at a nearby bank when he suffered a medical event. One witness said the man had a stroke.
The man accidentally went into reverse, going 70 feet before turning, driving through a fence and hitting a parked truck. The van continued another 100 feet, in reverse, inside the auto parts store. He hit a female employee who was working behind the counter.
A woman was pinned by the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital but the owner of the store says she’s going to be OK.
The driver of the van was also sent to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A passenger inside the van wasn’t hurt.
