PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 37-year-old woman is on the hook for having to pay more than $23,000 to a parent teacher club.

Cecelia L. Braaten appeared before Multnomah County Judge Gregory F. Silver last week and pled guilty to one count of first-degree theft.

The other charges that she had been indicted on were dismissed.

As part of her plea agreement, Braaten will serve three years of probation. If she violates any of her terms, she could be sentenced to 18 months in jail. The total amount of restitution Braaten must repay is $23,885.46.

She will be required to perform 100 hours of community service. Braaten will have to make a minimum payment of $400 a month as part of her restitution.

According to Gresham Police, Braaten was the former president for the Hollydale School parent-teacher club. The theft of money occurred from August 2012 through April 2015, according to police.

Police said Braaten kept more than $11,000 in funds raised during the school’s cookie dough sale. She is also accused of withdrawing cash from the club’s bank account and using the debit card at gas stations and stores.

Attempts to reach Braaten on Tuesday were not successful.
