Blood trail in snow leads to woman’s body

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Detectives following a blood trail in about 4 inches of new snow found the body of an adult woman.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, according to Hood River County Sheriff Matt English.

Deputies responded to the Family Man Staging Area just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate after a passersby saw a large amount of blood in the snow and called 911. About a quarter of a mile north of the parking lot, deputies found the woman’s body.

English said the woman is white or possibly Hispanic. No additional information was released.

The area where the woman was found is used by walkers, runners, mountain bikers and ATV riders.

Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of the Family Man Staging Area within the last 48 hours to contact the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 541 387-7077.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
