PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Starting Saturday, MAX trains will roll between Milwaukie and Portland.
TriMet’s newest rail line, the Orange line, is 7.3 miles long, connecting SE Portland and northern Clackamas County.
With the new MAX line comes a new bridge. Saturday will also be the first day users can cross the Willamette River on the Tilikum Crossing.
All rides on the TriMet system are free Saturday. The MAX Orange line officially opens at 11 a.m. The opening will be preceded by an inaugural ride for Oregon Governor Kate Brown, FTA Acting Administrator Therese McMillian, several Oregon U.S. Representatives, and many other officials.
An opening ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. across the street from the Lincoln St./SW 3rd Ave. MAX station.
