NEWBERG, Ore. (KOIN) — An alert newspaper delivery driver noticed smoke coming from an airplane hangar in Newberg Saturday morning and alerted firefighters to the quick moving blaze.

Officials say when firefighters arrived at 406 Airpark Way, they found one of the five attached hangars fully involved with flames. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other units.

The units are used for storage and didn’t actually have any airplanes inside.

It took about 35 firefighters 40 minutes to get the flames fully under control. They stayed on scene for about four hours making sure all hot spots were out.

Investigators are still working to find a cause and calculate damage estimates.
