CAMAS, Wash. (KOIN) — A Camas homeowner is at his wits end. Blake Bergeron says when there are massive downpours, the storm drains in his neighborhood can’t keep up. He describes the water rushing onto his property as a waterfall.

Bergeron has lived off of Kent Street since 2012. It’s a hilly neighborhood, which means all the rainwater goes downhill and according to him, backs up the drains.

“I honestly think it’s a capacity issue,” Bergeron tells KOIN 6 News. Bergeron admits he has called the city, and officials have told him there is no clog.

He says he and his neighbors have used sandbags to keep the water from breaching their property, but it hasn’t always worked.

“I shouldn’t have to deal with water coming in my home.”

The city of Camas says it is monitoring the situation, but officials say the drains have all been tested and they are up to industry standards. Officials also said Camas wasn’t the only city to have problems, especially over Halloween weekend.
