Inmate missing from N. Bend correctional facility

NORTH BEND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Oregon inmate escaped from the Shutter Creek Correctional Institution in North Bend on Tuesday evening.

A staff member at the correctional facility discovered 38-year-old Shawn James Friese was missing around 4 p.m., the Oregon Department of Corrections said.

Friese is described as a white man, 5-feet-11-inches tall, 195 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is most likely wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt with the word “inmate” and the DOC logo.

He was taken into custody on September 3 on one count of second-degree burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. His release date is July 28, 2019.
