PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver died on Swan Island after crashing with a semi-truck early Wednesday morning, backing up traffic for miles.
The crash happened near North Basin Avenue north of Emerson Street, police said, 2 cars were speeding southbound. One of the cars veered to avoid hitting the truck, but the other car slammed into the semi-truck. The first car left the scene, authorities said. But that driver was later found and interviewed by police, who said this driver was not involved in the crash.

The name of the 47-year-old victim has not yet been released. The semi-truck driver, 49, was not injured, was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment.
Speed and wet roads are possible reason for the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
KOIN 6 News will have more information later.
