WOODLAND, Wash. (KOIN) — A man who a neighbor described as a “class act guy” was found dead inside a burning home in Woodland Tuesday morning in what police said is a suspicious death.
Late Tuesday afternoon, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the man was found inside the house and that the fire was intentionally set. But they are not releasing the cause of death or the name of the victim as investigators fear it may “compromise the investigation.”
Officials responded to 2145 Dahlia Street on reports of a house fire and found the man dead inside. They said the scene and evidence were suspicious and called homicide detectives.
Neighbors told KOIN 6 News an older man lived in the home and had been the victim of a multiple break-ins over the past year or so.
“Class act guy, kinda kept to himself, sold fishing supplies and people liked him in the community, didn’t do anything wrong,” Ed Patterson said.
KOIN 6 News will continue to follow this story.
