COWLITZ CO., Wash. (KOIN) — Eight people were arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing more than 50 firearms from a man’s collection, deputies said.
The suspects are accused of stealing the weapons from a man in his 80s who reportedly has previous felony convictions and is prohibited from legally possessing firearms, Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies spent the day removing almost 400 firearms from his property that weren’t stolen, but were unlawful for him to have in his possession, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim, who may face charges for illegally possessing the firearms, reportedly appeared to have been collecting them. Deputies said they do not suspect he had any plans to use the firearms in a criminal manner.
Five of the theft suspects are under 18 years old.
The others have been identified as 19-year-old Skylar Smith, 19-year-old Justin Gillman and 18-year-old Mycah Mendoza. Each of the 8 suspects faces charges of burglary and theft of a firearm. Some are charged with trafficking stolen property.
Anyone with information on the case should contact Deputy Riley McNeal.
