Plea deal expected in Milwaukie homicide

OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN) – An accused murderer will go before a judge on Wednesday where he will take a plea deal and be sentenced.

Daniel Ryan Gillispie remains lodged in the Clackamas County Jail charged with murder. According to detectives, he stabbed Alexander Mosbey, 25, back in June 2015 at a home in the 14000 block of SE Briggs Street.

The investigation started when two Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Briggs Street address on the report of a “suspicious person.” An anonymous female caller told dispatchers that she heard two men talking about a dead body inside the residence.

When the deputies arrived, they found Mosbey dead on the back patio. The medical examiner determined that he died from a stab wound to the chest, according to court documents.

Detectives learned that there was a belief within the community that Mosbey was a “snitch.”

Eventually, Gillispie was identified as the suspect. When he was questioned by detectives in Clark County, where he had been arrested for burglary charges, he said he killed Mosbey after he heard that Mosbey had snitched on one of Gillispie’s friends.

Details of the plea agreement and sentencing have not been made public.

The sentencing is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Clackamas County Courthouse in Oregon City.
