PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A grand jury this week re-indicted Themba Kelley with new charges stemming from an attempted burglary in late July.

According to Portland police, a 16-year-old girl called 911 to report an unknown suspect was inside her room. Officers arrived in the 7800 block of Southeast Franklin Street and set up a search zone after learning that the suspect, later identified as Kelley, had fled the home.

Officers were able to locate Kelley and found items stolen from the burglary, according to police.

Kelley is accused of attempting to touch the girl in a sexual manner, according to court documents.

During the investigation, police learned that Kelley had also attempted to burglarize a home in the 3300 block of Southeast 79th on the same day. Video from that incident shows Kelley standing on a residential front porch, police said.

For that case, Kelley is charged with attempted second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal trespass.

The video also captured evidence of Kelley committing a theft from a third location, according to police. For that case, he is charged with second-degree theft.

Kelley was arraigned on Wednesday. A court appointed attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Kelley remains in custody.
