PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was killed and another injured when a car crashed into them on Highway 26 Monday night, police said.
The pedestrians were hit on Highway 26 east of the tunnel. The driver who hit them fled from the scene, according to Portland Police Bureau.
Officers who arrived on the scene found one of the men with non-life-threatening injuries. The other man was pronounced dead on the highway.
Westbound lanes of Highway 26 were expected to be closed between downtown Portland and the tunnel for several hours.
