LYONS, Ore. (KOIN) — A Salem man died from injuries cased by a log while loading his truck on July 27.
Jerry Sramek, 55, was a contracted truck driver loading logs at a Weyerhaeuser Columbia Timberlands owned property along US Plywood Mainline. A 20-foot-long and 10-inch diameter log fell from his trailer onto him, causing fatal head and neck injuries.
Sramek was found by another truck driver around 11:30 a.m. He was not wearing the correct protective gear when the accident happened.
Linn County deputies are investigating the incident.
