PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The trial of a 31-year-old man accused of attempted aggravated murder will begin Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

Security within the courthouse is expected to be tight as Eugene Michael Brown appeared before Judge Christopher J Marshall for trial.

Jury selection is expected Monday with opening statements to follow.

According to court documents, Brown is accused of shooting three people at a strip club in Northeast Portland and then firing off several rounds hours later outside an acquaintance’s home.

The shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. April 25, 2015 at the Portland Exotica International Club, 240 Northeast Columbia Boulevard. Police said three men were shot during a fight in the club’s parking lot. One man was shot in his face, another in his torso and the third victim was shot in the abdomen, police said.

Several hours after the shooting at the club, officers were notified of a shooting in the 8700 block of Northeast Weidler Street.

Brown, whom court documents state is a Hoover gang member, was indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury on two counts of attempted aggravated murder with a firearm, two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, one count of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, eight counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of first-degree burglary with a firearm.

The case originally went to trial in May 2016 but was dismissed when at least one witness for the state failed to appear.

State prosecutors in June convened a grand jury that issued a re-indictment.

The trial is scheduled to conclude by Friday.
