PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 21-year-old, who is awaiting trial on a murder case, is now accused of tampering with a witness and hindering the prosecution of an unrelated murder case.
Demetruis Ray Brown is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center.

He was arrested by Gresham Police on September 11, 2014 after a grand jury charged him with murder.
Police say Brown shot and killed Andreas “Prince” Jones on June 9, 2013.
In late January, Brown assaulted a 36-year-old man who was also being held in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center, according to court and jail records.
The individual who was attacked may have been a witness in an unrelated murder case, according to court documents.
Based on the court filings, it appears that Brown, through the assault, hindered the prosecution of Michael Mininger.
According to police, Mininger killed Randy Williams on Jan. 8, 2015. Mininger was arrested and booked into jail on Jan. 15, 2015.
The alleged assault, carried out by Brown, happened Jan. 29, 2015.
The DA’s Office said it could not comment on an on-going investigation.
Mininger, however, has since been sentenced to prison. He was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and third-degree robbery. He is eligible for release on Oct. 7, 2031.
Brown’s murder trial is scheduled to start on July 15.
