ASTORIA, Ore. (KOIN) — The body of Irene Mustain, who died in a small plane crash in the Columbia River last week, was recovered Monday by Clatsop County divers.
The 63-year-old woman was a passenger in a vintage plane piloted by John McKibbin. The pair were headed to the Pacific Ocean to spread the ashes of her late husband when the plane went down in about 28 feet of water.
McKibbin’s body was able to be recovered on Friday.
Workers will now begin the process of removing the plane, a 1941 North American AT-6.
The NTSB continues to investigate the crash.
