FOREST GROVE, Ore. (KOIN) — A group email list used within Forest Grove High School received pornographic emails from unknown spammers.
In a letter sent to parents, Principal Karen O’Neill said the network and devices were not hacked and student data was not compromised. But she said officials were “appalled by the content of these emails and regret that students would receive this type of material in their email in-boxes.”
One of the first things officials did was “temporarily suspended all student Gmail accounts. Students still have access to all other Google apps.”
The school and district have “aggressive spam filters in place,” but it’s not possible to block all spam, O’Neill wrote. This list was used to communicate about school activities.
Their tech staff is deleting the inappropriate emails and if students receive more emails of this nature they should alert school officials.
